Isabel was born in the town of Madrigal de las Altas Torres, and two years later her brother Alfonso was born in Tordesillas. But previously, fruit of the marriage of Juan II of Castile and Maria of Aragon, Enrique would be born, which would be done with the throne in 1454. With the death of her father, Isabel retires with her mother and her brother Alfonso to the town of Arévalo.

ITINERARY

MADRIGAL OF THE HIGH TOWERS

This town is where the largest queen that history has given us was born, being one of the most significant villages, at this time, in the La Moraña region, located north of the province, about 74 km from the provincial capital .

ARÉVALO

In this town is where Isabel with her mother and her brother Alfonso retires, at the death of her father in 1454. It is located in the north of the province, and is part of the La Moraña region, 52.2 km from the provincial capital

EL TIEMBLO

In this town the ceremony happened where Isabel is granted the title of Princess of Asturias, and so would be the successor to the throne. It is located southeast of the province, in the region of Burgohondo-Cebreros-El Tiemblo, about 44.6 km from the provincial capital.

ROYAL MONASTERY OF SANTA ANA

This convent, the young Isabel was instructed and resided very regularly, in addition it was the place where several nobles offered her the throne of Castile but forcing them to obey her brother Enrique, who with the act of the Bulls of Guisando, would give the title of Princess of Asturias.

REAL MONASTERY OF SANTO TOMÁS

This monastery was entrusted by the Catholic Monarchs, who with the guidance of Hernando Núñez de Arnalte, later built the palace around the eastern cloister or “Los Reyes”, where the kings spent many summers. You can also see several symbols and shields of the Catholic Monarchs in front of the church facade and the cloister of Silence. ISABELINE GOTHIC

It is of special attention that during the reign of the Catholic Monarchs a different Gothic began to be performed, a late Gothic, where in Ávila it is reflected for example in the Monastery of Santo Tomás.
